Human Resources Administrator

Performs administrative functions in the human resources department in one or more of a variety of human resource areas such as recruitment, benefit administration, employee relations, civic involvement, payroll, workers compensation, safety, etc.
Essential Functions:
Monitor and maintain production staffing levels in accordance with established guidelines. Includes job postings, recruiting, screening, interviewing and evaluating and selecting candidates for vacant positions. Conduct employee orientation sessions and process all related paperwork.
Process changes in employee status, wage/salary, benefits, etc. Collect, enter and maintain employee data in HRMS or other systems.
Process employee separations of employment, employment verifications, may conduct exit interviews and complete unemployment claims.
Create and maintain various files for recordkeeping and reporting purposes in accordance with applicable regulations and company procedures.
Handle and respond to internal/external inquiries from a variety of sources for employee/human resources related information. Coordinate various employee communications via bulletin boards, newsletters, meetings, etc.
Organize employee welfare activities such as social events, special benefits, civic involvement, employee recognition, etc.
Conduct investigations to gather information for a variety of sources in response to employee concerns and complaints.
Process employee leaves of absence (i.e., FMLA, STD, LTD, etc.) in accordance with government regulations, company policies and insurance plans.
Assist in administering employee benefit programs including enrollments, changes, terminations, COBRA, etc.
Act as back-up to location HR Assistant for processing payroll for all departments.
Assist with training initiatives and coordination.
Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in an effective manner with customers, co-workers, clients and supervisors.
Perform other job duties as assigned by supervisor.
Job Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent plus 3 ? 5 years' experience in Human Resources preferably in a Union environment.
Basic knowledge and understanding of fundamental employment laws such as Title VII, ACA, ADA, FMLA, NLRA and Worker's Compensation as well as familiarity with OSHA and OFCCP regulations and compliance.
Excellent communications skills, verbal and written. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with and build and maintain positive working relationships with all levels of personnel.
Exceptional organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Must be able to work independently without close supervision to make sound decisions based on policy/company practice.
PC skills with knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint (or Google Docs, Sheets and Slides) and familiarity with ADP.
PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
